Saturday morning started with a wholesome breakfast of oatmeal, pancakes, and
Spam. A few yards away, Chapter President Elizabeth Whitethorne-Benally chatted
with the overnight campers in line for a hot meal.
It was the big day of Rock the Canyon, an eagerly anticipated music showcase
that has become one of the top tickets in Western Navajo and a haven for
renowned Diné artists like Tony Begay, Beverly Blacksheep, Rueben Richards and
Baje Whitethorne Sr.
