M iss Navajo Nation is the biggest royalty title a Navajo woman could hold on the Navajo Nation, but for Navajo teen girls it's Miss Teen Navajo.
Miss Teen Navajo CEO/Co-Founder Mel Hoskie said that Miss Teen's responsibilities are to promote Navajo language and culture within the youth.
"It's giving the chance for a teen to be something," Hoskie said.
Violetta Dempsey, 14, from Lukachukai, Ariz., was crowned the 2014-15 Miss Teen Navajo on April 19 at the Navajo Nation Museum. She was one of three contestants that ran for the title.
