Having a winning record is one way to gauge a team's success.

But for John Madrid, he's seeing it in a different light.

After a recent game, the first-year Chinle baseball coach gathered his group of players around him to talk about the progress he's seen since the start of the season last month.

"A lot of you are getting base hits but we can't be making errors," Madrid said, while addressing his club last Friday at the Salt River baseball tournament in Scottsdale.

"Every game we have to get better and better. And that's the goal."
