Navajo chapters out of ballots

CHINLE

With about an hour left until polls closed, the Navajo Times received unconfirmed reports that at least seven chapters have run out of ballots.

Voters in Manuelito, Cameron, Tsé Lichii, Forest Lake, Rock Point, T’iis Nasbas and Sweetwater all reported not being able to vote.

A Tsé Lichii voter said the election officials were taking people’s names, telephone numbers, census numbers and dates of birth and promising to get back to them.

“There’s a lot of people still in line,” she said.

A call to the Navajo Nation Election Administration was referred to Elections Director Edbert Little. Little was out of the office and did not immediately return a phone call.
