For Brittny Clah, a state championship trophy is all she wanted for her Many Farms Lady Lobos basketball team this season and on March 6 she got what she wanted for her team - a trophy.

Though Pima beat Many Farms Feb. 20 in the 2A state tournament, Clah redeemed herself by winning the 2A three-point shootout during halftime of the boys' 2A championship game at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.

"I really wanted to bring something home, for my school and my team," Clah said. "Since we weren't able to continue on in the state tournament, I really wanted to bring home something for the team."

Competing against four other contestants from 2A region schools, Clah hit 10 of 15 three-pointers to win the shootout.

"I'm really surprised," Clah said. "I was a little shaking and my heart was thumping through the whole thing. I was pretty scared. I thought I was going to miss all of my shots, but I came through and hit them all."

Given only a week's notice for the shootout, Clah says she didn't have much time to practice. But throughout her four years at Many Farms, her coach, Tracey Todacheene, told her just to shoot the way she's been shooting.

"Maybe just one day of practice and that wasn't on a regular court," Clah said. "I didn't have much time to practice but was told to shoot the way I been doing and that's just what I did."

With all eyes on her during the shootout, Clah didn't know what her reaction would be during the competition as compared to a regular game.

"During the game you're more into it and more relaxed," she said. "But during the competition, you're more thinking about it and wondering whether or not you should be nervous or not."

Clah said that coaches and athletic directors from the 2A North conference nominated her.

"I was surprised, too," she said. "There other three-point shooters and I guess I was the best one out the all of them."

At state, Clah, being a three-point specialist for her team, hit three three-pointers as she and her team came back against Pima, but only to lose, 42-34.

"They really hurt us, but we fought back in the second half," Clah said. "We really wanted it, but Pima took it away from us. We tried our best. We just have to deal with it. We came this far and we're really proud of ourselves."
